Shipping Questions

When will my order ship?

We are doing our best to ensure that all orders will process and ship within 1-3 business days by utilizing both our "in house" fulfillment team and Amazon fulfillment. If your order is placed over a weekend or US holiday, it may take up to three business days to ship from our headquarters. You will receive an email with tracking information at the time the order ships from our Dallas headquarters. Please allow 48 hours for the tracking info to update. *Selecting Priority, Overnight Expedited or DHL International Express as a shipping option (where possible) does NOT expedite the production process (meaning the time it takes us to make your order). It speeds up the shipping process only!

What shipping options are offered within the United States?

All of our shipping options carry a flat rate for each order.

Anywhere within the U.S.:

- USPS First Class Mail (2-5 business days)
- USPS Priority (2-3 business days)

Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on the items in your cart and your shipping destination. All domestic orders will ship to anywhere in the United States via our economy shipping service with tracking information. U.S. orders ship via USPS within one-two business days of the time of order. Orders placed over the weekend or on a U.S. Mail holiday will ship within three business days. You will receive an email with tracking information at the time the order ships.

Do you ship internationally (outside of the United States)?

General Questions

Will BARTON's Bands fit my watch?

There's a good chance they will! Our bands are designed to fit almost any watch that uses standard spring bars and has a lug width between 16mm and 24mm. If you are not sure how to determine the lug width of your watch, check out our Fitting Guide.

For our QUICK RELEASE BANDS, it is important that your watch's lug width is the exact width of the band you select or the spring bars will not fit correctly.

For the NATO® STYLE STRAPS, if your watch lug has an odd width, we recommend going with the larger width band. The material is soft and will squeeze in just fine.

Do you offer different colored buckles?

Yes, you will find that many of our straps feature a variety of available buckle colors that can be selected prior to adding the item to your shopping cart! We also sell buckles separately, which are available in a variety of finishes. All of the buckles on our bands are attached with spring bars (as are the buckles on nearly all watch bands) and can be swapped out fairly easily. You may also want to purchase a spring bar tool to make the job easier.

Do you sell spring bars and spring bar tools?

Yes! They are right here.

Do you offer a guarantee?

Yes! You can read about our guarantee and return policy here.

I want a color that you don't have! What should I do?

If you are interested in a certain combination of colors that we don't have, please email us at info@bartonwatchbands.com. If we receive enough requests, we will integrate them into our collection.

Which color or patterns should I choose?

One of the best features of our watch bands is that they can be swapped in and out in a few seconds and without tools. So, it's easy to swap colors to compliment your daily outfit. Here's a few other tips on color selection.

If your watch does not have any vibrant colors (for example, if it is some combination of white, black and silver) then almost any color combination will look good on it. Instead, consider your wardrobe as a whole as well as what other accessories you may be wearing in combination with a specific watch on a given day. Choosing a color that is present, but underrepresented in the rest of your outfit can really help pull the whole deal together. If you are wearing neutral colors, consider adding a little kick to the ensemble with something bright like red, pink or green.

If, on the other hand, your watch has a couple of colors worked into the design of the dial or casing, we recommend including at least one of those colors in the band. For example, a watch that has tiny highlights of red on the hour hands will typically look great with a lot of red in the band. On the other hand, if the watch has a lot of red in the design itself, you may want a little less red present in the band - just enough to complement it.

Do you offer quantity based discounts?

A 10% discount is offered on orders of three or more bands by using the code "BUY3+" at checkout. A 15% discount is offered on orders of five or more bands by using the code, "BUY5+" at checkout. If you are interested in purchasing 50 or more bands, we can offer additional price breaks. Please email us at info@BartonWatchBands.com to inquire.

Do you sell Gift Cards?

We sure do! They're available here.

Can I buy straps at your Dallas office?

Yes, our Dallas, Texas office location is open to the public.

Am I a bad person if I wear the same watch band everyday?

It depends on what else you are doing with your life. At a minimum, you could improve your fashion sense. Moreover, wearing the same watch band all day everyday without washing it is an excellent way to grow a colony of bacteria. In fact, health agencies have banned wristwatches in surgical settings for this very reason. We recommend treating your Barton Watch Bands just like any other part of your wardrobe. For example, if you are going from the work place to the gym, take an extra few seconds to change over your band from leather and periodically put your silicone and nylon bands in the wash with your other clothes.

NATO® Style Nylon & Leather

How do I attach a NATO® Style strap to my watch?

It takes about 10 seconds to switch from one NATO® Style strap to another! If you are wearing the same one every day, you are not taking full advantage of the concept.

If you are installing a NATO® style strap on a watch that currently has a traditional leather or metal band, it may help to set aside a minute of your day and watch the video below. Extra spring bars are available separately, if needed. Novices may also consider purchasing a spring bar tool, but it is not always essential.

What width should I select?

Our NATO® STYLE straps fit any watch that uses traditional spring bars and has a lug width between 18mm and 24mm. To determine the lug width of your watch you'll want to measure the total width from side to side where the spring bar meets the casing.  For more on this, check out our Fitting Guide.  If your watch is between two sizes, we recommend going with the larger width. The material is soft and should squeeze in nicely.

Will the length fit the circumference of my wrist correctly?

Our Ballistic Nylon NATO® Style Straps and Leather NATO® Style Straps are available in two lengths. The 'standard' length (10") generally fits wrists from 5" to 7 1/2" in circumference and is available in widths of 18mm, 20mm and 22mm. The 'long' version (11") generally fits wrists from 6" to 8 1/2" and is available in 20mm, 22mm and 24mm widths. Those with wrists under 7" typically prefer the 'standard' length band and those with wrists over 7 1/4" typically prefer the 'long' band.

Our Jetson Nylon NATO® Style Straps are available in a single standard length of 10.3" (270mm) and will fit the vast majority of both men's and women's wrists.

If you do encounter a fit issue after purchase, we offer a money back guarantee

My NATO® Style strap is too long. What should I do?

Our NATO® Style straps are designed to fit most watches and most wrists without any modification. However, if you have a small wrist, you may find that the free end of the band extends further beyond the catch than you would like.  The extra length on both our leather and nylon straps can be folded back under itself into the catch.  The nylon straps can also be trimmed with a good pair of scissors. If you do feel the need to trim it,  short exposure to an open flame (i.e. a lighter) will prevent the nylon webbing from fraying after it is trimmed.

NATO Strap fold too long

What is that extra piece of strap for? Can I cut it off?

See the FAQ above for information on how to properly attach your NATO® style watch band. The extra piece of webbing secures the watch head in place and is a functional part of the band design. We do not recommend removing it. However, if you feel the urge to trim it, you may do so with a good pair of scissors. For the nylon straps, short exposure to an open flame (i.e. a lighter) will prevent the nylon webbing from fraying after it is trimmed.

Can I wash my nylon watch band in the laundry or dish washer?

Yes! The laundry makes more sense to us, but if you want to put it in with your dishes, we're not going to stop you. Both yield similar results. You may have seen our advertisements suggesting that you are disgusting if you don't change your watch band at least as often often as your underwear - once a month. While, we say this tongue-in-cheek, watch bands can harbor bacteria just like other sweaty clothing. We recommend treating your NATO® Style bands just like any other part of your wardrobe. Change it depending on what you are wearing and put it in the wash periodically.

How should I care for my leather strap?

With proper care, you should be able to get years of use from your leather watch band. Here are a few tips:

  1. Avoid creasing the band when you attach and remove your strap - Many people have a tendency to bend the band all the way back when attaching or removing it. Over time, this will put unnecessary strain on the leather and create a crease. If the leather is not properly conditioned, this could eventually lead to cracking.
  2. Clean and condition the leather from time to time - Remove the band from your watch and wipe it gently using a soft rag with warm water. Next apply a premium leather conditioner by applying a small amount to your fingers and gently massaging it into your strap. We recommend a product such as Fieblings Golden Mink Oil, which repels water and has a minimal darkening impact on the leather. Always test the conditioner on the back of the band first and be careful not to get too much in the stitching as some conditioners can dry white and flaky and be difficult to remove.

Will the NATO® style straps work on my Apple Watch or other smart watches?

The most important consideration is whether the smart watch has heart rate and blood oxygen sensors on the backside. If your watch does use these sensors, be aware that the NATO® style strap will pass in between your skin and the sensors, likely interfering with the watch's ability to monitor your pulse.

Some people don't mind covering the sensors and others do. If this is an issue for you, you may want to consider our Barton Quick Release bands instead. Some have also had success altering our bands in various ways to prevent interference with the sensors, but you are on your own if you opt for this route.

Our NATO® style straps have been extremely popular with Pebble owners (Pebble Round Large takes a 20mm band, Most other Pebbles take a 22mm) and we have also received positive feedback from many other smart watch owners.

Our Apple Watch Adapters work with any of our 22mm bands.

What do these bands have to do with NATO®?

Not a whole lot! However, these bands do have an interesting history. Gear Patrol did a nice job summarizing it here.

Who or what is 'NATO®'?

I am embarrassed for you! While we are not affiliated with NATO® in any way, this style of band does have military origins.

Quick Release Leather, Alligator Grain, Canvas & Silicone

What width should I select?

For our quick release bands, it is important that your watch's lug width is the exact width of the band you select or the spring bars will not fit correctly. You'll want to measure the total width from side to side where the spring bar meets the watch casing. For details, checkout our Fitting Guide.

Will Barton Quick Release bands fit my smart watch?

There's a good chance they will! Click here for a link to lug widths for many common smart watches. If your watch is not listed and you are unsure of what width to purchase, the specifications for most watches can be found with a quick Google search. You can also email us any time and we can help you figure it out.

Will the length fit the circumference of my wrist correctly?

Our canvas, leather, alligator grain and soft silicone quick release bands are designed to fit wrists between 5 1/2" and 8" in circumference. This will cover the vast majority of both men and women. If you are concerned about fit, feel free to test out the band and return it for a full refund if you are not pleased.

Our Elite Silicone Quick Release straps include two lengths of the longer side of the strap and will fit a slightly wider range of wrist circumferences, generally from about 5" to 8".

What is the difference between the 'Basic Silicone' and 'Elite Silicone' collections?

While both styles are made from the same grade of silicone rubber, have approximately the same thickness and are designed to fit wrist between 5 1/2 - 8 inches in circumference, there are certainly some key differences worth pointing out!

Is there a break-in period for your leather and alligator grain straps?

Our leather straps are quite flexible and supple out of the box and don't typically require a break-in period.

Our alligator grain straps are padded and typically require a short break-in period when compared with our other leather straps. To speed up the break-in process, with the strap removed from the watch, repeatedly flex the strap near the spring bar as far as you can up and down for about 5 or 10 minutes. This, along with a couple days of use will make for a very comfortable strap.

With proper care, you should be able to get years of use from your leather watch band. Here are a few tips:

  1. Avoid creasing the band when you attach and remove your strap - Many people have a tendency to bend the band all the way back when attaching or removing it. While, we say this tongue-in-cheek, watch bands can harbor bacteria just like other sweaty clothing. We recommend treating your silicone and canvas watch bands just like any other part of your wardrobe. Change them depending on the activity or outfit and put them in the wash periodically.

Can I remove and/or reinsert the spring bars on a quick release band?

It's quite easy to do on the silicone bands and also fairly easy to do on the canvas straps. The video below demonstrates how. It's also possible to replace the spring bars on our leather quick release bands in the same manner, but it can be a bit more difficult since the leather does not stretch as easily.
